Despite breaking a record of losing to a Lesotho since 1979 coupled with early elimination from the COSAFA cup, Flames coach Ernest Mtawali has blamed his players for the loss saying that his side didn’t deserve to win the match

Mtawali becomes the first Flames coach in 37 years to lose to Lesotho.

Lesotho beat the Flames 1-0 with the lone goal scored by Jane Thaba Ntso. A result that send them to the quarterfinals setting a mouth watering clash against South Africa.

Mtawali’s contract ends next month and his fate will lie at the hands of FAM(Football Association of Malawi)

Most fans felt disappointed after the Flames loss to Lesotho saying Coach Mtawali has disappointed them and wondered why FAM still gave him a nod to lead the team without experience.

Leading Malawian daily newspaper Nyasa Times reported that the football governing body in the country had not made any decision on Mtawali’s future.
