Pyramids FC have officially announced the appointment of Hossam Hassan  as head coach replacing resigned coach Ricardo La Volpe.

Hossam Hassan decided to leave Al Masry after his side crashed out   of the CAF Confederations Cup semi-final game following a heavy loss to DR Congo’s AS Vita Club even though the team refused to accept his resignation.

Pyramids announced the news on their official Twitter account welcoming the new coach and his brother who will be the club’s football director.

“I would like to welcome Hossam and Ibrahim Hassan to the club, wishing them the best of luck,” said previous Pyramids FC investor and Head of Saudi General Sports Authority Turki Al-Sheikh.

On the other side, Al Masry’s chairman Samir Mehleba was surprised by Hassan’s decision to leave the club and join Pyramids.

“I am surprised that Pyramids announced him as their new head coach since Hossam Hassan was not clear about this,” the chairman said in radio comments to Radio Masr program.

“If he decided to leave Al Masry like this he will probably leave Pyramids the same way and before an important match,”  he added.

The Portsaid-based club are preparing for an important clash with Ismaily on Saturday in the 12th round of the Egyptian Premier League.
