Rayon Sports crowned 2016/17 Rwandan champions


Rayon Sports are the 2016/17 Rwandan Premier League Champions with four matches to spare.

The Nyanza based side edged Mukura VS 2-1, at Kigali Stadium on Wednesday evening, to open insurmountable 13 points gap between them and closest challengers and defending champions APR FC.

With four rounds of matches to the close of the current season, Rayon, 9-times Rwandan Cup champions are on 67 points.

A double from Malian Moussa Camara sealed the title against ninth placed Mukura with Habimana Yussuf scoring the consolation.

Rayon, coached by Masudi Dujuma will represent the country in the CAF Champions League next year.

Army side APR FC remain the most dominant club in Rwanda with 15 league titles.
