Red Hot Mbwana Samatta has EPL clubs salivating for his signature

Red hot Tanzania skipper Mbwana Samatta is on demand in the English Premier League as both West Ham and Newcastle who have been salivating for his signature are both weighing serious options for a January move for the lethal striker.

Samatta hit the headlines again on Tuesday when he netted for Genk against Liverpool at Anfield in the UEFA Champions League, and the BBC reports that he has a modest £10-million release clause in his contract that has boosted interest.

With Genk likely out of Champions League contention, and probably also out of the running for the Belgian league, now might be the time for them to cash in on their prized asset.

Samatta has been a revelation since his 2016 arrival at Genk, netting 71 goals in 135 starts in all competitions, including a healthy 16 in European club competition.

The 26-year-old has also been free-scoring for Tanzania of late, and will be a key part of their squad that does duty in the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers this month.
