The Stallions of Burkina Faso are yet to make an appearance at the FIFA World Cup and they find themselves battling in Group D of the 2018 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers.

They lock horns with South Africa in the first group game on Saturday 8 October 2016 at the Stade du 4 aout in Ouagadougou.

Burkina Faso’s team is made up of brilliant individual talents such as captain Charles Kabore who plays for Russian side FC Krasnodar, Jonathan Pitroipa of Al-Nasr in the United Arab Emirates Gulf League in Dubai and 28 year foward Alain Traore of FC Lorient in France.

Such is the depth in the Burkina Faso side, they are spoiled for choice but the face a buoyant Bafana Bafana side who are always in the habit of sneaking into the World Cup Finals.

Bafana Bafana have qualified 3 times for the FIFA World Cup once as the tournament hosts in 2010.

South Africa are basically made up of home based players who represent about 90 percent of the squad.

Players like Eric Mathoho of Kaizer Chiefs, Thabo Matlaba of Orlando Pirates, Thulani Hlatshwayo of Bidvest Wits, Dean Furman of Supersport United, and Keagan Dolly of Mamelodi Sundowns.

Will this new generation make it 4 times? Well they have to negotiate past the Stallions of Burkina Faso.
