Peace Cup winners Rayon Sports have completed the signing of left-back Yves Rwigema from reigning league champions APR FC on a two-year contract until end of the 2017/18 season.

Djuma Masudi’s side, which finished second in the league last season, will represent Rwanda in next year’s CAF Confederation Cup.

Immediately after sealing the deal, Rayon Sports’ Secretary General and Spokesman, Olivier Gakwaya, wrote on his Twitter handle, “We’ve signed Yves Rwigema to reinforce our defence.”

Seven-time league winners Rayon Sports have continued their pre-season training ahead of the new season which is scheduled to get underway on October 14.

The Blues beat SC Kiyovu 3-0 to finish in third position in the just concluded ‘AS Kigali Pre-season Tournament’ which was won by APR FC after edging DR Congo giants AS Vita Club 1-0 in the final.

Rwigema is a product of APR FC academy. He first appeared in the U-20 national team under Richard Tardy for an international friendly against Burundi.

The youngster then struggled to break into the APR first team which had experienced players like Michel Rusheshangoga and Albert Ngabo playing ahead of him.
