Inter Milan winger Keita Balde Diao was called up to the Senegal squad for the 2019 African Cup of Nations qualifier with Equatorial Guinea on Saturday but is unable to feature because of a pretty embarrassing gaffe.

The Senegal FA sent all the relevant information to the wrong Inter Milan email address and because they didn’t have any notice of the call-up, the Nerazzurri are refusing to let him link up with the national side.

Abdoulaye Sow, the president of the FA, issued the following statement on the matter:

“We have sent an email to Inter to inform them of the summoned player, but it was sent to the old email address that Internazionale Milano no longer uses. They changed their address. At the current moment, the player can not leave and can not be called to join us. His club is uncompromising.”

Just an almighty error, isn’t it? Senegal, who are joint leaders of their qualifying group, do have plenty of attacking prowess in their ranks but they could have done with Keita as another option.
