In January 2018, the big brains of African football will gather together in Morocco for the CAF Women’s football Symposium.

At this event, ideas to improve the women’s game will be floated inn for the CAF Executive committee members under the presidency of Ahmad Ahmad to adopt.

Ahead of the symposium, calls for the CAF Women’s Champions league tops the wishing list for many stakeholders.

Zambia National women’s team assistant coach, Enara Phiri echoed the ascending calls, in an interview with soka25east.com. She reckons this can be a great strategy to market women’s football in Africa.

“The former FIFA president once said that football is feminine and I think that was a good strategy to market women’s football.

“In Europe they take it so seriously that there is even a Champions league were like in men’s football champions of various leagues competes together.

“I think we also need a CAF women’s Champions league so that our girls can take their careers so serous and make money.

“And this will help them to be active unlike having competition when they are called for the national team only. This is one of the changes I look forward to see after the symposium,” she said.

Meanwhile, an organizing committee entrusted to work on the success of the event has already been set up. It is composed of Sierra Leone Football Association president Isha Johansen, Lydia Nsekera from Burundi and Nawal El Moutawakel of Morocco.

Others are deputy Ethiopia FA Secretary General, Maskrem Tadese, Patricia Rajearison from Madagascar and Alhaja Ayo Omidiran of Nigeria.
