South Korea have confirmed a friendly against Senegal scheduled for June 11, ahead of Russia 2018 World Cup.

The tuneup encounter will take place in Austria at a yet to be confirmed venue three days before the start of the quadrennial international football showcase.

Shin Tae-yong coached side has faced Senegal three times, collecting one win, one draw and one loss. Their last encounter was in 2009.

Senegal, ranked 27th in the world, is the only team among the four opponents that Korea will face in friendlies that has reached the 2018 World Cup.

It topped Group D in the African World Cup qualifying campaign with a record of four wins and two draws. In Russia, Senegal will be grouped with Poland, Colombia and Japan in Group H.

South Korea, currently ranked 58th in the world are in Group F and are scheduled to open its World Cup campaign against Russia on June 18, before facing Mexico on June 23 and Germany on June 27.

The friendly completes Aliou Cissé’s World Cup preparation program as the match come on top of other four friendlies against Uzbekistan on 23 March, Bosnia -27 March, Luxembourg -31 May and Croatia on 8 June.
