Two officials of South Sudan Premier League champions Altabara FC are the latest casualties in the ongoing South Sudan clashes that broke out on Friday in the capital Juba.

The sad news of the deaths was confirmed by the FA president Chabur Goc Alei this evening.

The two are; the Secretary General Mr. William Batista and the Team Manager Lako Nelson.

“We have lost two colleagues of football; Mr. William Batista the secretary general of SSPL champions Altabara FC and Mr. Nelson Lako who is the Team Manager. May the Lord rest their souls in peace and mercy. ” Mr. Chabur confirmed.

Clashes between soldiers allied to South Sudan President Salva Kiir and those supporting his vice Riek Machar have rocked Juba since Friday claiming over 150 lives according to BBC.

Neighbors Kenya on Sunday suspended the national carrier, Kenya Airways’ flights to the country as the situation escalates with many locals displaced.

Juba based Altabara FC, the nation’s flag bearers in the CAF Champions League next season, has been sharpening for regional championship, CECAFA Kagame Cup slated for later this month.
