SPL leading top scorer Wycliffe Ochomo earns national team call up

Soka25east.com can exclusively reveal that Wycliffe Ochomo’s recent superb scoring form for Muhoroni Youth has earned him a call up to Kenya’s national team the “Harambee Stars”

Ochomo tops “SportPesa Premier League” scorer’s chat with nine goals in thirteen fixtures.

The former Congo United,Gor Mahia and Ulinzi Stars striker is not new to the national side as this will be the fifth time he is being summoned to defend the national pride, even though he is yet to earn maiden cap.

“I’m very happy for this opportunity to don the national colors, I have been waiting for it and I’m glad it has finally come,” elated Ochomo said after their win against AFC Leopards in Kisumu on Saturday.

Ochomo plus the rest of the squad to be named soon are expected to report to camp on May 23 to start preparations for a friendly match against neighbors Tanzania on May 29 bofore the Coach Stanley Okumbi’s side takes on Congo Brazzaville in the AFCON 2017 qualifiers return leg on June 5.

Ochomo is not bothered about a two-match goal drought as he understands the expectations of fans, saying soon they will celebrate.

“Goals will come, I’m not worried. Today I missed a couple of chances but it happens in football, you don’t score everyday.”

He (Ochomo) failed to direct a single shot at Gor Mahia keeper Boniface Oluoch last weekend when they lost 2-0 to the 15 times champions; a sharp contrast of today’s match in which he was a thorn in the flesh of Ingwe defense and their keeper Lucas Indeche.
