Sportpesa have announced a return to Kenya’s football scene with a bang!

The leading betting giants on Monday renewed its contracts with two major football entities in the country namely the Football Kenya Federation (FKF), Kenyan Premier League (KPL), Gor Mahia FC and AFC Leopards.

In the fresh three-year deals, KPL will be biggest beneficiary – pocketing Kshs 259m followed by KPL champions Gor Mahia (Kshs 198m), AFC Leopards (Kshs 156m) and FKF (Kshs 69m).

Sportpesa cancelled all their sponsorships engagements locally over a new taxation regime introduced by the government early this year which they felt was punitive and would eat into their revenue.

The two have since found a middle ground prompting the grand return to the negotiation table by Sportpesa.

“We are extremely excited to be able to partner with these four powerful industry players. As we have always maintained, developing local football talent is a key vision for our company,” Ronald Karauri, Sportpesa CEO, said.

He added, “Despite the economic policy setbacks we have suffered over the past few months, we remain committed to supporting local sports as much as we can to get Kenya where it should be among the great nations of the world.”
