DR Congo’s St.Eloi Lupopo will conduct their first training session at Nyayo National Stadium on Saturday prior to their 2016 Confederation Cup return leg preliminary round clash against Bandari scheduled for Sunday.
Lupopo are expected to arrive on Friday with a delegation of 30 persons .They include 18 players, two Congolese Federation representatives and four staff members among others.
The Congolese side overcame Bandari who are the 2015 Shield Tournament champions away in Lumbubashi Stade Frédéric Kibassa Maliba by a 2-0 margin and the second leg is expected to be a do-or-die encounter for the Dockers in search of at least three goal difference.
Kick off has been moved to 3pm inorder to accommodate penalty kicks in case of a draw.
In the first leg Lupopo scored through Mutshimba Mugala in the 36th minute and Heritie Makambo deep in stoppage time to leave Bandari with a mountain to climb in their return leg in Nairobi in a fortnight’s time.
In the game Bandari coach Twahir Muhiddin elected to start with former Mathare United and Chemelil Sugar striker Meshach Karani, Shaban Kenga and Edwin Lavatsa upfront in a 4-3-3 formation with Danny Sserunkuma on the bench.
Humphrey Okoti, Anthony “Muki” Kimani and David King’atua claimed the three midfield slots while Edwin Wafula, David Gateri , Shariff Mohammed and Felly Mulumba marshalled the defence, offering protection to Wilson Obungu in goal.
Bandari’s defeat left Kenyans clubs in the continental scene facing the danger of being tossed out at the first hurdle after Gor Mahia were also defeated 2-1 at the Nyayo National Stadium on Saturday by Madagascar’s side, Caisse Nationale de Prévoyance Sociale Sport (CNaPS) in the Champions League.
