Absa Premiership side Supersport United have parted ways with Nigerian defender Azubuike Egwuekwe www.soka25east.com can reveal.

Former Nasarawa United and Warri Wolves defender played his football last season with South African club Supersport United which he joined in at the beginning of 2017/18 campaign.

After just a year in South Africa the defender was released by Matsatsantsa A Pitori now he can join a team of his choice as he is a free agent

The 29 year old joined South African Premier Division club on a three year deal  from Finnish club Kups wich he joined in 2016.

Egwuekwe impressed at Kups in Finland scoring five goals in 32 games.He started his career in 2006 with Nasarawa United before joining Yerima Strikers where he where he played for one yearHe then spent seven years at Warri Wolves before he moved to Finland.

The central defender made his Super Eagles debut in 2012 and played in several  2014 FIFA World cup qualifiers.

He made the Super Eagles squad for the 2013 FIFA Confederation cup.He was also named in the squad for the 2014 African Nations Championship.

Supersport United have already released former Kaizer Chiefs duo defender Tefu Mashamaite and striker Kingston Nkhatha and signed Zimbabwean goalkeeper Washington Arubi and ex Wits striker James Keene.
