Day two of CECAFA Women’s Championship second edition in Jinja, Uganda saw Tanzania’s Kilimanjaro Queens face off with She-Amavubi of Rwanda in group “B” opener at FUFA Technical Centre Njeru.

The Kili Queens emerged victorious after edging their Rwandan counterparts 3-2 in a high scoring match.

Asha Rashid opened scoring five minutes into the match from a wonderful solo effort to give Tanzania an early lead; Stumai Abdalla doubled the lead half an hour later for a comfortable 2-0 lead.

A quick resurgence by the She-Amavubi saw them equalize within a span of two minutes. Anne Marie pulled one back a minute to half time before Anton Anastazia conceded an own goal with one minute added time to ensure the match ended 2-2 at the interval.

Tanzania restored their lead in the second half with Asha’s brace in the 67th minute to book them the first spot in the semis-finals, since the group has only three teams.

The action continues tomorrow with Kenya’s Harambee Starlets taking on Burundi with hosts Uganda playing Zanzibar in group “A” next fixtures. Kenya and Burundi were triumphant in their opening ties on Sunday beating Ugandan Crested Cranes 4-0 and Zanzibar 10-1 respectively.

Day 3 Fixtures:
