Kenyan betting giants Sportpesa have today launched an eight-team tournament to be known as Sportpesa Super Cup.

The lucrative one-week tournament will feature the biggest teams from Tanzania and Kenya; they include Simba SC, Yanga SC, Singida United (Tanzania), Gor Mahia, AFC Leopards, Tusker FC (Kenya) and Jang’ombe Boys from Zanzibar.

Tanzania will host the inaugural edition at the National Stadium, Dar es Salaam, from 5th to 12th June.

Sportpesa will cater for all the costs of the competition including accommodation and travel expenses.

The winner will pocket a tidy sum of $30,000 with the runners up taking home $10,000.

A part from Tusker and Jang’ombe, the rest of the teams are sponsored by Sportpesa.

The tournament may however fail to attract top players from the clubs as during that period Tanzania and Kenya national teams will be preparing for the upcoming 2019 Afcon qualifying matches.

The Harambee Stars for example will head to camp this Sunday to start preparing for their match away to Sierra Leone in Freetown.

Fixtures:

AFC Leopards Vs Singida
Yanga Vs Tusker
Simba vs Nakuru All Stars
Gor Mahia vs Jang’ombe Boys.
