Tanzania:Mbeya sign duo after losing Kaseke and Mwalyanzi

JKT Ruvu right fullback Haruna Shamte and Coastal Union attacking midfielder Joseph Mahundi have been signed by money bags Mbeya City. The two players were out of contract at their respective clubs. They were introduced on 30th May at Mbeya City offices, The Mkapa hall.

While Haruna Shamte signed a one year contract, Joseph Mahundi signed a one and half year contract. The financial details of the contract however remain undisclosed.

These are the first signing done by Mbeya City after they lost influential players in Kaseke and Mwalyanzi.The two players were jovial and happy to join the club.”I believe City is a good team with big plans, I have decided to join them because it is here that I will improve. Since it got promoted to the top, it has got a big influence in the league with a lot of fans, I want to work hard with all my heart and strength” an elated Shamte was quoted saying.

On his part, Joseph said he was happy to join Mbeya City terming it a big move to a big team with passionate fans “Mbeya City is a good team playing competitive football, I believe I can play international football when I am here, there are teams that have been in the league for so long but don’t have big say as Mbeya”

In welcoming the duo, Mbeya City FC Secretary General Samuel Kiombe welcomed and congratulated the two players for choosing Mbeya City, he promised to work with them to achieve the best “I thank you for joining us today, I personally welcome you and remember this is the team of the new generation and I believe you will be happy here, and on behalf of the leadership and the fans, I exclude any doubt that this is the right team”

Mbeya City was formed in May, 2011.They were   formerly known as Rhino FC based at Arusha before they were bought by Mbeya City Council. They finished fourth in the just concluded Vodacom Premier League and play their home matches at the 20,000 capacity Sokoine Stadium.
