TP Mazembe humiliate Tunisian side Club Africain 8-0

TP Mazembe defeated Club Africain 8-0 in the 2018/19 CAF Champions League Group C match at the Stade TP Mazembe in DR Congo on Saturday.

As a result, the Congolese side moved up to the second spot on the group standings, while Tunisia’s Africain slipped down to third place on the table.

It took only 11 minutes for the home side to break the deadlock and it was Kevin Mondeko who hit the back of the net.

Veteran attacker Tresor Mputu set-up Mondeko and the latter fired past Africain goalkeeper Seifeddine Charfi to make it 1-0 to Mazembe.

The Ravens piled pressure on Africain and it was soon 2-0 to Mazembe when Mika Miche beat Charfi seven minutes before the half-hour mark.

The visitors were struggling to contain the hosts and they conceded again in the 37th minute with Jackson Muleka scoring to make it 3-0 to Mazembe.

Mondeko then grabbed his first-half brace two minutes later when he beat Charfi for the second time with a decent finish.

Mazembe were leading 4-0 at the interval having dominated the first-half.

Midfielder Zouheir Dhaouadi was introduced by Africain after the restart as the visitors looked to pull one back.

However, Mazembe extended their lead through Muleka, who grabbed his brace to make it 5-0 to the home side a minute after the hour-mark.

The momentum was with Mazembe in the closing stages of the game and Mputu put his name on the scoresheet in the 76th minute to make it 6-0 to the hosts.

The Ravens were running riot as Meschack Elia and Mputu (brace) scored in the final ten minutes to seal Mazembe’s 8-0 victory over a hapless Africain side.
