TZ – Demonstrations in Shinyanga and Songea following twin loss by Stand and Majimaji.

Thousands of football enthusiast floored to the streets of Shinyanga and Songea streets demonstrating the loss of their respective clubs.

In Shinyanga town,Stand United supporters took to the streets after their shock loss to rivals Mwadui FC in a derby match played at the Kambarage stadium in Shinyanga.the fans were protesting what they termed as poor leadership and administration by the Chairman whom they accused of collaborating with the provincial administration.They cited incidences of misappropriation of funds where close to Tsh 30 million was raised in the derby match as compared to Tsh 10 that the officials stated.

Mwadui beat town rivals Stand United 0-2 to move to the 6th position of the Vodacom league and within a point of Stand United who occupies the 5th slot.

In Songea town ,Ruvuma Province,another set of fans took to the streets protesting Majimaji’s 1-5 humiliation at home against visiting Mwanza side Toto Africans,this was also characterised by striking by Majimaji players terming poor working conditions where they are forced to beg to get the going smooth.One player who did not want his identity revealed told Soka25east on phone from Songea that they are a times given Tsh 2000 approximately 1 Dollar as match allowances ,money that can’t even buy talk time.

The Majimaji fans said they have been with the team and won’t allow few individuals to interfere with a team that they struggled to bring to the top tier.”we are ready to go down with the team” one fan said.

In other matches played across the country,on Saturday Mgambo JKT forced defending champions Yanga to a goalless draw while Kagera Sugar were held to a 1-1 draw by visiting Ndanda FC in

Mbeya City were also forced to a 2-2 draw by Mtibwa Sugar at the Sokoine Stadium while Azam FC were held to a similar scoreline by Simba SC.

On Sunday JKT Ruvu beat Tanzania Prisons 4-1 while Coastal Union drew African Sports in the coastal derby.
