Controversy Mars Vipers Vs KCCA Clash in Azam Uganda Premier League

By Vicent Kakooza,

The Azam Uganda Premier League continues Tuesday the 22nd 2015 with eight fixtures around the country. Defending champions Vipers SC Vs KCCA FC the former winners will arguably be the biggest fixture of the day for various reasons.

Apart from being defending champions and former winners respectively, both teams are tied at the top of the table on 10 points each from 4 games played.

However all the hype could have faded away due to the FUFA versus Vipers wars going on at the moment? As the Buikwe outfit was still pondering the next move to against five of its stars who allegedly absconded from training, the football bosses at Mengo added salt to injury by announcing the withdrawal of licences of four players.

After the suspension of Watenga Ismail Bin Abdul Rashid, Alitho James, Bukenya Deus and Kizito Keziron by Fufa, it’s not yet clears whether the club will loosen upon the players they had suspended.

John Semazzi and Shafik Bakaki through suspension while Saddam Juma and Siraje Sentamu are just returning from Injury. Alfred Leku and Patrick Ssembuya who are still being kept out by injuries are set to miss the Buikwe encounter.

Head coach Edward Golola told the club website; “Just like all the other games we play, we are taking this one very serious,”

“We travelled a day before the game because we want the boys to have enough rest and concentration. “He added.

Vipers have already scored four goals in two matches at home this term, 3-0 against The Saints and 1-0 against JMC Hippos, left back Dan Birikwalira assisting three of those goals.

“We need to have more than one optional of goal scoring chances, if the midfield fails, at least we are sure either Wadada or Birikwalira will pull off something special,” Golola added.

Last season the correspondent fixture ended in a two all draw with Mike Mutyaba scoring a brace for Vipers then.

In preparations for the game, KCCA FC has played two friendly games; against Kira United on Friday that ended 1-1 and the exciting Omondi vs Kirunda Friendly on Sunday that ended 3-2 in the latter’s favour.

After these rehearsals, Team Managers Mike Mutebi and Sam Ssimbwa are convinced that Vipers’ juggernaut over their side is just about to stop.

“I have waited for this moment for some time to prove that we are a force to reckon with this season and we intend to win the league. All my players are ready to roar,” Ssimbwa said after Monday’s training session.

Vipers’ striker William Wadri faces his former side as KCCA’s Owen Kasule and Hakim Ssenkumba will also face the Buikwe side they once played for.

Vipers have won 4, lost 2 drawing just once in the last seven league meetings between the two sides.

As Mutebi and Simbwa seem to have named Emmanuel Opio, Denis Okot, Joseph Ochaya, Timothy Awany, Hassan Wasswa Dazo, Ivan Ntege, Senkumba Hakim, Tom Masiko, Micheal Birungi, Muzamir Mutyaba,  Nelson Senkatuka as their first 11 and  Benjamin Ochan, Saka Mpiima, Shaban Kondo, Jackson Nunda, Martin Mpuuga, Owen Kasule, Sulaimon Akinyemi as the players on the bench, Vipers look confused as 4 of the 19 players they travelled with to Buikwe are suspended by FUFA.

Here are the 19 players named by Vipers on Sunday:  James Alitho, Ismael Watenga, Nicholas Wadada, Dan Birikwalira, Harid Lwaliwa, Yusuf Mukisa, Musa Malunda, Deus Bukenya, David Owori, Brian Nkuubi, Joseph Mpande, William Wadri, Pius Wanji, Erisa Sekisambu, Keziron Kizito, Allan Kyambadde, Duncan Sseninde, Joseph Ssemujju
