Uganda Cranes coach Desabre names 46-man squad for Tanzania clash preps

Uganda Cranes coach Sebastien Desabre has named a 46-man provisional squad comprising both local and foreign based players as they prepare for their last AFCON 2019 qualfying match against Tanzania, slated for 24th March 2019.Uganda have already qualified for the competition with a game to spare.

The released list has 31 locally based players while fifteen make the foreign cast. Nine players will be selected after a Regional tour match in Kampala for a camp in Cairo together with foreign contingent.

Hassan Wasswa Mawanda and Godfrey Walusimbi, who are currently unattached to any club have been included among the local based players.

Borussia Dortmund II Herbert Bockhorn is the highlight of the foreign based players. Bockhorn, a German of Ugandan decent, plays as right back but can be persuaded to play in central defence.

Uganda Premier League golden boot pursuers Bashir Mutanda, Juma Balinya and Daniel “Mzee” Sserunkuma are the conspicuous names on the local list.

Hilary Mukudane and Paul Mucuereezi of Mbarara City have been surprise exclusions from the squad. The duo have been in fine form for the Mbarara based side in the league with their performances causing rave reviews.
