Uganda Cranes defensive midfielder has signed for Vipers Sports Club in the Azam Ugandan Premier League from Iraqi’s Al Shorta SC Soka25east.com can exclusively reveal.

The 27-year old inked a six-month deal with the 2010 league champions, making a return to Ugandan scene after leaving SC Villa for the Asian country in January 2016.

Wasswa did not renew his stay with Al Shorta at the expiry of his six-month contract.

The move to Vipers was midwifed by his agent Ronnie Santos who confirmed all is settled and the experienced midfield general is ready to hit the ground running.

Wasswa formerly of St. George, KCCA and Cape Town FC was among the golden generation that delivered Uganda Cranes’ Nations Cup dream in 38 years early this month. He came on as a substitute in the team’s 1-0 win against Comoros to book a place in Gabon’s AFCON 2017.

The Nsambya born midfield link-man has however been left out of Coach Milutin “Micho” Sredojevic’s latest 30-man squad released on Wednesday for Togo camp and friendly and World Cup 2018 qualifier away to Ghana on October 7.
