Uganda Cranes attacking midfielder Erisa Ssekisambu is in Nairobi to seal a move to Kenyan Premier League giants Gor Mahia.

Erisa jetted into the country last evening from Kampala and will meet the club’s management today.

After helping Vipers SC win the 2017-18 Ugandan Premier League title, the 22-year-old made it known that he would be leaving the Venoms for greener pastures.

“I don’t think I will be at Vipers next season. I have served the Ugandan league, it’s now time to face new challenges,” the former SC Villa, URA and Express player told NTV’s Press Box show last month.

For the past weeks, the player’s agent has been in touch with the 16-times Kenyan champions – negotiating his personal terms and the deal could be inked anytime soon.

Gor have been inactive in the June KPL transfer window and are yet add anyone to their squad of thirty, but speaking to Capital FM recently, the head coach Dylan Kerr said he was looking for a striker.

“I think I am happy with the squad the way it is. I would only wish to add one more striker and that’s what we are looking for,” the English man said.

Erisa, who can play as a winger or center forward, scored nine goals as Vipers dethroned KCCA to win their third UPL title.

His national team career started in 2015 under Serbian manager Milutin “Micho” Ssredojevic and was the top scorer in the 2015 CECAFA Senior Challenge Cup in Ethiopia with four goals as they won the cup.

He was one of the shinning stars at the 2016 CHAN finals in Rwanda as he scored a brace in 2-2 draw with Mali.

If the deal goes through, Erisa will add to the envious depth at K’Ogalo which has seen the team engage in many competitions without showing signs of fatigue.

The team heads to Kisumu this week for two league matches against Posta Rangers and Sony Sugar Tuesday and Friday respectively before they jet out to Tanzania for the Kagame Cup.

They are currently leading the KPL log standings with 40 points, nine clear of second placed Safapaka with four games in hand.
