Uganda Cup match abandoned due to fans trouble, rescheduled for later date

By Bonface Osano,
Uganda cup final pitting KCC FC and SC Villa at Kyamate play ground was yesterday June 6th abandoned due to acts of hooliganism by a section of KCC fans.
The match was abandoned in the 72nd minute after fans invaded the field of play protesting Erisa Ssekisambu’s controversial penalty and a red card to KCC midfielder Hakim Ssenkumba, accusing ref Robert Donney of poor officiating.
In the wake of the abandonment, FUFA executive held an emergency meeting resolving that the match be replayed at the Namboole Stadium on Tuesday June 16th, FUFA president Moses Magogo also clarified that the match will start all over again but the red card issued to Hakim stands..
Magogo blamed lack of adequate security for the ugly scenes witnessed on the day and hence the change of venue to the much secure Namboole Stadium.
The final was 41st Uganda Cup edition. Bothe Villa and KCC have bagged the crown eight times a piece, Express FC boasts of ten titles the highest in the cup history.
