Uganda Kobs edge out Rwanda U23 to set up Egypt date

By Austin Oduor Otieno,

Uganda U20 soccer team also known as the Kobs today beat Rwanda U20 2-0 at the Nakivubo War Memorial Stadium in Kampala.

With a balanced first half where both teams failed to score, Uganda just needed a draw of any kind to proceed to the next round.

On resumption, Uganda Kobs coach Micho pulled out Fazio Muhammad for danger man Yunus Sentamu. The change brought some effect upfront and in the 62nd minute, Vipers SC  player Farouk Miya scored with a brilliant volley to give the hosts a deserved lead.2 minutes later John Ssemazi extended the lead to 2-0 to deny the visitors any chance of progressing.

Rwanda missed an open chance 5 minutes later after Ndayishimiye backheel effort rolled just inches out of the left goal post.

Uganda Kobs will now meet Egypt in the third round after the 4-1 aggregate win.
