USM Alger crowned Algeria 2015/2016 league champions

USM Alger were crowned 2015/2016 Algerian League (Ligue Professionnelle 1) champions on Saturday, following a 3-0 win over ASM Oran at the Stade Omar Hamadi.

Oussama Darfalou, Mokhtar Benmoussa and Mohamed Seguer found the back of the net as USM Alger snapped a three game winless run, to clinch the title.

The now seven-time champions squandered several chances to seal the title, but finally got over the line in Algiers. Furthermore, victory for the hosts condemned ASM Oran to relegation.

Miloud Hamdi’s men put together a 17 game unbeaten run to runaway with the title, but successive defeats to RC Relizane (3-0) and JS Saoura (1-2) , followed by a 2-2 draw against MC Alger put the champagne on ice.

USMA, though, finally made sure of league success with their 16th win of the season. The Algerian Cup final is set to take place on Sunday, 01 May. MC Alger face Hussein Dey.
