Moroccan International Walid Azaro is staying put at Egyptian giants Al Ahly after a deal to move to Chinese club Hebei China Fortuna fell through.

In a scathing statement released by Ahly they termed Hebei as “Unprofessional” in their approach to buy the player in a deal that was to cost a whooping 9.5 million Euros.

Ahly contracting manager Mohamed Fadl  in his statement said “Upon Walid Azaro’s request, the football committee embarked on the negotiations and we all reached an amicable agreement of 8.6 million Euros”

“However we were surprised by the turn of events after the Chinese club retreated at the last minute reneging against many other terms of the agreement therefore the club decided the deal to be put off with immediate effect”.

Azaro scored 18 league goals last season to claim the league’s Golden Boot but was agonisingly dropped from Herve Renard’s final World Cup squad.

After joining Al-Ahly from Moroccan side Difaa El Jadida on a four-year deal in the 2017 summer, Azaro saw his stock rise in his debut Egyptian Premier League season, inviting a big Chinese move that never materialised.
