Winning start for Cheche’s New York Cosmos

New York Cosmos opened the 2016 North American Soccer League with a bang thrashing Ottawa Furry FC 3-0 at Shuart Stadium on Sunday 3.

Kenyan international defender David “Cheche” Ochieng’ was unused sub in the match. The former Tusker FC man joined the North American side last year and has played in a couple of build up matches for Cosmos.

Venezuela’s Juan Fernando Arango commenced the annihilation with a fine goal in the 36th minute off Jairo Arrieta Obando through pass, for the first goal of the season.

Arango grabbed a brace two minutes later with a tap in from Sebastian Guenzatti’s deflected cross for a 2-0 half time score.

Adam Moffat sealed the memorable night scoring the third goal in 71st minute.

Cosmos are now perched at the top of the 11-team league with 3 points same as Miami FC who have inferior goal difference.

They next face Jacksonville Armanda FC on April 10.
