Ethiopia – Report indicates that Dire Dawa management board have sacked Head Coach Mrs. Meseret Mane.
Mane was the only woman Coach handling men’s club in a top tier football league in Africa.
She was credited with qualifying Dire Dawa from the Ethiopian lower league to the premier league, and maintaining the status in the just ended 2016 season.
Dire managed to finish two places above the relegation zone at 11th on 30 points from 8 wins and six draws.
However, the management feels the performance was underwhelming, especially after strengthening the squad in mid season with big names like; Faud Ibrahim from USA, legendary Yordanus Abay, the all time league top scorer and Dawit Estifanus from Coffee.
The board is rumoured to be hunting for a seasoned and more experienced replacement from either home or abroad.
Mane has travelled to USA for the annual Ethiopian Sport Festival as a guest; she will stay there for additional three months while attending advanced coaching education by elite football Universities in the USA. She has been linked with the women national team job.
