St. George new signing, Ugandan, Yasser Mugerwa was named man of the match in “The Horsemen’s” 4-1 thrashing of Ethio-Electric, in Addis Ababa City Cup group “A” tie at Addis stadium, Saturday, October 22.

The match was preceded by another group “A” duel between Ethiopian premier league new entrants Jimma Aba Bunna and Defense which ended in a barren draw.

Mugerwa, who joined St. George from Orland Pirates of South Africa, assisted two of the four goals. Abubeker Sani opened scoring early in the 8th minute for the Ethiopian champions, but Addis Negash drew level for the electricity men in the 20th minute from the spot.

Sani, a graduate of St. George youth system, restored the lead a minute to half time to make it 2-1 into the first interval.

Ethiopian international Ramkel Lok extended the lead early second half for 3-1 score, before grabbing the second brace of the game in the 50th, to seal the emphatic victory 4-1.

Group “B” matches on Sunday saw Nigid Bank edge another premier league newbies Addis Ababa City F.C 1-0, through Peter Okei lone goal, which came in the 10th minute.

In the second match, Adama City F.C spanked Dedebit F.C 3-0 with goals from Tilahun Wolde (11’), Surafel Wondimu (15’), and Faskia Assfaw (32’).

The tournament continues Tuesday 25 with group “A” matches; Ethio-Electric vs Defense and Jimma Aba Bunna vs St. George, and on Wednesday 26 with group “B” fixtures; Dedebit vs Addis Ababa City and Nigid Bank vs Adama City.
