Hopes of continuation from 2014 U-17 World Cup crushed

The Junior Shepolopolo beat South Africa to qualify to the 2014 U-17 World Cup for the first time ever in Costa Rica.

The Albert Kachinga coached side that had names like Irene Lungu and Grace Chanda were pooled in Group A alongside the hosts, Costa Rica, Venezuela and Italy.

In their opening game, Zambia lost 2-0 to Italy before being handed another 4-0 heavy defeat from Venezuela. However they were to record a consolation victory against the hosting nation in the last game to bow out of the tournament with some dignity and finish third in the group.
