The Zambia U20 national team have lifted the Cosafa U20 Championship trophy after they beat hosts South Africa 2 – 1.

Young Chipolopolo side broke the deadlock in the eighth minute as denmark based Kenneth Kalunga fired home from close range after picking a pass from Enock Mwepu.

Amajitas created couple of chances with Sipho Mbule being guilty of firing wide one of clear opportunities.

The South Africans  however levelled matters in 41st minute when Kabelo Seriba fired home from close range, after Luther Signh’s free-kick that pounched aganist woodwork.

In the second half, Paston Daka almost scored for his side with his effort denied by Amajitas defender Trecious Malepe, as he put his body on the line to deny the Chipolopolo.

Zambians kept on pushing and restored their lead five minutes to the end with a spectacular effort from Boyd Musonda who blasted home from outside the box with Sanele Tsabalala well beaten.

In the added time South Africa tried to get an equalise but were anable to penentrate a solid Zambia defence with the win taking Zambia’s record to 11 at the regional showpiece.
