Zambia-Kopala Derby:Form is not a factor

Zambia-Kopala Derby:Form is not a factor

By Aaron Mubanga Jnr

On 29th August today  the city of Kitwe comes to a stand still as the two Kitwe giants in Powerful Power Dynamos and Kalampa Nkana football Club square off. This is by far the best derby in the land .Power are the only team to have won a continental title in Zambia while Nkana are the team with most league titles 12.

In this electric encounter form is not anything to go by as it is not just the 3 points at stake but also bragging rights to who owns the city of Kitwe. It is for this reason that the city will be painted in yellow and red tomorrow.Nkana has also slashed the price for their umbro replicas by 50 percent from K400 to K200.This is in a bid to feel the stadium with Nkana replicas and make it more intimidating for Power dynamos.

Since October 2012 their have been 6 games played with Nkana winning 3 ,power 1 and the other two have been scoring draws.Power last won in 2012 while Nkana won the first meeting of the two this season with a controversial penalty which was scored by Djunese Kanda.

Top 5 Players of Impact from each side.

We will start with Nkana .Walter bwalya,Simon Bwalya,Kayawe Kapota,Jimmy Ndhlovu and donashano Malama are the suspects that can make a difference in this encounter.

Walter Bwalya : every Nkana fan who has watched him now say he is their favourite. The new signing from Forest Rangers has good ball control ,good eye for goal,he runs with the ball like he owns it and he is not short of tricks his bag.On a good day he can win you a match all on his own.His brilliant performances have earned him a national team call up .If he plays as expected he will have a major say in the result of this match.

Malama Donashano: the defensive midfielder of the team who is also the captain of the squad has to control the temple of the game to his teams favourite tune.

Kayawe Kapota:The young Centre back his one of the best youngsters in the country at the moment. He is cool ,calm and collected .His best will be needed if nkana have to win this fixture,

Simon Bwalya : the former power dynamos attacking midfielder is one of the best in his position at the moment and his A game is vital in this derby that has more at stake than an ordinary fixture.

Jimmy Ndhlovu : The goal porcher spent the all of last season and half of this season at power Dynamos scoring 14 goals last season and 8 this season. He will be vital if Nkana have to post a positive result.

Power Dynamos : Kennedy Mudenda,Martin Phiri,Kelvin Mubanga,Julius Situmbeko and luka Lungu are the players to look out for.

Mudenda : The 2011 Zambian footballer of the year is one of the most consistent players in the ZSL.His pace and brilliant for work helps him to beat defenders and leave them flat footed. His contribution will be vital.

Kelvin Mubanga : The Nkana Groomed youngster switched sides from Wusakile to Ndeke and his creativity will be vital for the yellow army.

Martin Phiri : The striker has come in to fill the void left by Jimmy and has accounted well for himself scoring some vital goals and if his goal scoring form can continue he can win it for power.

Luka Lungu : The 2011 ZSL topscorer has revamped his form and he is looking like a goal angry striker he should be.He is however not the same lethal striker but seems determined to bring back his form .His contribution is likely to be importantas well.

Julius Situmbeko : Well well not the most popular player with power Dynamos fans due to his behavior at times but you can’t take away his brilliance on the pitch. The koko master as he calls himself has fancy foot work that leaves defenders wondering where they went wrong and what they can do to stop him.He can shoot from long distances and if he is played he can just change the temple of the game.

This game will separate teams on the pitch but should unite the fans and Hooliganism is highly discouraged.
