Green Eagles 2-1 Green Eagles

Green Eagles were in no compromising state when they welcomed Zanaco, the defending champions in Choma on a Saturday afternoon.
The defending league champions surrendered its 12-match unbeaten record against Green Eagles with a 2-1 loss in the second game of the 2017 FAZ MTN Super League.

Zanaco , which has a near perfect run against Green Eagles found the running challenging and succumbed finally to the Manfred Chabinga tutored boys.

Mwila Phiri scored the first in the first half on 37th minute to send the strong signal to Zanaco that this was a different season and another goal from Spencer Sautu before the close of the first half on 44th minute made Zanaco have serious tactical changes in the second half.

Kennedy Musonda pulled one back in the second half on 70th minute , a bright goal in otherwise disappointing display by the defending champions .
Zanaco thou produced one of its most sluggish performances , perhaps through complacency because of its overwhelming stats against Green Eagles.

In the end, Spencer Sautu’s 44th minute goal , sealed a famous win and pivotal for Green Eagles who command the Super League table in week two.

ZANACO should be disappointed with the way they played and It’s a strange feeling as they have never lost a game away in Choma and they would have hoped they kept their statistics intact.

ZANACO will now be hoping to get their first win of the season when they host Mufulira Wanderers on 22nd April in week three at Heroes Stadium.

Zanaco have only won two games in their last six games and have scored four goals in those games this season. Green Eagles are away to Lumwana in week three hoping to keep the top spot should they keep winning.

The 2017 season doesn’t look as predictable as the past seasons have been and so far in just the second week , 31 goals have been scored with 18 scored in the second half of games and 13 scored in the first half. This looks to be a season of goals.
