Premier Soccer League of Zimbambwe has announced end of five-year-old partnership with South Africa based pan African pay television giants Supersport on mutual grounds.

PSL’s Chief Executive Officer Kennedy Ndebele made the announcement today in a statement adding that they will be inviting tenders for a new broadcast partner.

“Following the completion of the 2017 season, the Premier Soccer League and Supersport International Ltd have mutually agreed to end the partnership entered into by both parties in 2012.

“The partnership has positively transformed local football through financial injection that has helped develop the game of football and benefit local clubs to invest in talent and meet some of their day to day match expenses,” the statement reads.

With the exit, Supersport now remains with just Zambian Super League under their belt outside South Africa from an initial list of five that had Kenya, Ghana and Nigeria.

PSL has announced that they will be shopping for a new media right.

“We would like to advise our stakeholders that we will be inviting tenders for the PSL media rights,” the statement concludes.

Grapevine is rife that new entrants Kwese Sports, owned by a Zimbabwean business mogul are angling for the rights.
