Nothing but pride will be on offer when Kenya’s Harambee Starlets battle it out against Tanzania’s Kilimanjaro Queens in the 2016 CECAFA Women’s Championship’s final on Tuesday at FUFA Technical Center, Njeru in Uganda.

The Nicholas Musonye’s led secretariat of the regional football body attributed the morale-deflating revelation to lack of sponsorship for the second edition of the women’s competition.

Musonye, the Secretary General of CECAFA pointed out today that without a sponsor, it was hard to find cash prizes for the outstanding teams and players. However he promised that the next edition will be better in terms of cash prizes.

The championship has not been staged ever since the first edition which Zanzibar won in 1986. Uganda’s football federation, FUFA offered to host this year’s tournament, as the wave of women football keeps getting stronger in the region.

The final at 3:30PM local time will be curtain raised by the third play-offs between hosts Uganda and Ethiopia from 1:30 PM.
