Chambeshi summons reinforcement for Chipolopolo clash with Tunisia

Chipolopolo coach Beston  Chambeshi has summoned reinforcements for Tuesday’s home clash against Tunisia following the withdrawal of Brighton midfielder Enock Mwepu and Leicester City striker Patson Daka from match-day-two of their FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 Group B qualifier against Tunisia.

Patson and Mwepu returned to their UK base after playing in the 2-1 away victory over Mauritania on September 3 to avoid the prospect of undergoing a mandatory 10-day quarantine that is required for anyone entering the UK from Zambia who are on the Covid-19 Red-Listed nations.

Chambeshi has recalled three home-based players he dropped in Morocco during the teams’ ten-day training camp there in transit to Mauritania and they include Red Arrows striker Felix Bulaya and Nkana midfielder Harrison Chisala.

Also summoned is Napsa Stars teenage striker Jimmy Mukeya who was amongst those that had to be dropped in Marrakech last week to make room for the seven overseas call-ups.

“Yes, it is not easy looking at the level and caliber of Enock and Patson because these are players you can count on,” Chambeshi said.

“But when you look at this situation, it is not their fault and it is not our fault.

“So we had earlier assembled 28 players and we have seen the guys that can close that gap and we believe and trust that those boys will for sure give us a good game.”

The trio joins midfielder Clatous Chama of RS Berkane in Morocco who missed the Mauritania game due to a visa problem but joined the team on Sunday in Ndola.

Meanwhile, Zanaco midfielder Boyd Musonda who limped-off in the closing stages against Mauritania is fit to face Tunisia.

“Boyd Musonda is fit to play tomorrow. I had a chat with the medics and they have reassured me that he is ready,”Chambeshi said.
