Football Kenya Federation has appointed Charles Okere as the new head coach of the Kenya women’s national football team Harambee Starlets.

Okere was the assistant coach of BetKing Premier League side Tusker FC and his tenure begins immediately. The length of his tenure is unspecified.

He will be assisted by Godfrey Oduor who is KCB’s assistant coach and Mildred Cheche who until her appointment was part of the KCB technical bench.

Long serving head coach David Ouma, who has been key to Starlets rise, left the role on mutual consent.

His first assignment will be to lead the team against Tokyo bound Zambia in a friendly match penciled for April 24 as Starlets begin its 2022 Africa Women’s Cup of Nations qualifiers preparations.
“I really feel honored and privileged to have been given an opportunity in the national team. It is always a great opportunity to serve the nation and this will also be a chance to gain more experience as a coach which in turn I will definitely bring back to the team,” Okere told Tusker FC Website.
