AS Vita Club thumped Maniema Union 4-0 in a Vodacom Ligue 1 playoffs match played at Martyrs Stadium, Kinshasa Sunday to keep tabs with TP Mazembe in the title race.

Jean Marc Makasu was the toast for the hosts – netting a hat-trick with Diba Idriss adding another in the later minutes of the game to cement the rout.

Makasu has now scored 20 goals, one less than leading top scorer, Mazembe’s prodigy, Ben Malango.

With two matches at hand, the Dolphins are comfortably placed second in the 12-team playoffs log standings on 47 points, three off leaders and defending champions TP Mazembe after round 21 matches.

Vita have their fate in their own hands and only need to win all their remaining three matches to dethrone Mazembe and bag their 14th league title.

Mazembe on the other hand must win their remaining one game and hope that the coach Florent Ibenge’s side drop points to keep their quest for a 17th title alive.

The Ravens edged DC Motema Pembe 1-0 Saturday for their 15th victory of the playoffs.

Zambian forward and former Chipolopolo skipper Rainford Kalaba, who has lately regained his form, scored the lone goal at the Mazembe Stadium, Lubumbashi.

Whatever their fate in the title, Mazembe have already secured continental football next season. They are currently playing in the CAF Champions League.
