Eli Keke wants the Ghana Premier League scrapped

By Dom Agbakpe,

Ghana’s Emmanuel Eli Keke has said he wants the Ghana Premier League to be scrapped due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The coronavirus outbreak has led to the suspension of major leagues in Europe and Africa including the Ghana Premier League.

The country’s elite league has been on a halt since March after President Nana Addo placed a ban on social gathering including sporting events.

The return of league is in two minds as to whether it should be scrapped or carried on.
The FA is yet to come out with a letter regarding the league but the 24 year-old midfielder thinks , the right decision is to scrap it.

“This is a headache for the think-tanks. With our economic situation and the effects it will have on clubs and players if football doesn’t continue,” he said during an interview with soka25east.com
He added:

“The health of the players and stakeholders is important as well. The best is for it to be cancelled.”

Eli Keke currently plays for Vikingur Olafsvik. He joined the Icelandic lower-tier side on a 3 year-old – initially on loan – from Dreams FC in 2018.

He was voted the player of the season following an incredible performance for his club in which he scored 3 goals from 19 appearances across all competitions.
