Cameroon finished off their Africa Cup of Nations qualifying campaign in style after beating Gambia 2-0 in their final Group M match at the Limbe Omnisports Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

Cameroon were already assured of finishing top of Group M and qualifying for Gabon next year, but still they came out firing with goals from Bejamin Moukandjo and Karl Toko Ekambi handing them their fourth win in the campaign.

The win sees Cameroon finish on 14 points from six games followed by Mauritania in second on eight points and South Africa in third on seven points.

The loss sees Gambia finish their qualifying campaign without a win and at the bottom of Group M with a measly two points.

Cameroon applied pressure from the get-go, but struggled to break down a stubborn Gambia defence.

Nonetheless, the home side pushed forward and were afforded a chance to take the lead in the 35th minute when the referee awarded them a penalty-kick.

Bejamin Moukandjo stepped up for the home side and made no mistake from the spot, 1-0.

The Indomitable Lions continued to dominate matters, but could not add to the scoreline before the half-time break.

It only took eight minutes into the second half before Cameroon did manage to double their lead courtesy of a strike from Karl Toko Ekambi, 2-0.

The home side took their foot of the pedal after that and coasted to victory as Gambia failed to threaten their goal.

Cameroon (1) 2 (Moukandjo 35’, Ekambi 53’)
Gambia (0) 0
