Feature: Senegal duo set for reunion

Senegal duo of Ismaila Sarr and Sadio Mane were in perfect harmony during the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations in the squad that reached the final only to lose 1-0 to Algeria.

Sarr has high regard for Mane who he refers to a big brother and always looks forward to playing alongside him. He might soon get his wish according to reports.

France Football claim Liverpool have reached an agreement with Watford to sign Sarr, 22, for around £36million.

The Senegal winger scored five goals, including a brace in the 3-0 win over Liverpool in February, and also registered four assists as Watford were relegated from the Premier League last season.

Sarr joined the Hornets for a club record £25m fee from Rennes last season, but is yet to feature under new boss Vladimir Ivic this term.

He has been linked with moves to Manchester United and Everton in recent months.

However, TalkSport claim the Reds appear to be leading the race for his signature with Jurgen Klopp keen to further improve his attacking options despite bringing in Diogo Jota from Wolves.

Sarr could be a replacement for either Divock Origi or Rhian Brewster, both of whome have uncertain futures at Anfield.

Last month, Sarr revealed he would ‘love’ to play for Liverpool.

He said: “Liverpool are a really great team – everyone would love to play there.

“They won the Premier League this year and the Champions League last year, but also there are great teams in the English league.

“Frankly, I have yet to make a choice. If that were to happen, I just wish they were a good team. At the moment, there are only guesses.”

But will Sarr be able to fit into the Liverpool style of play? Will he be able to step up to the level of his big brother Mane?

First of all, he is very quick and has a sharp eye for goal. The 22-year old can play on either wing and also as a second striker.

He still has room to improve and develop into a top player. And without a doubt he would fit into the Liverpool squad almost immediately due to his Premier League experience.
