Zambia’s Chipolopolo hosted Nigeria in a World cup qualifier on Sunday 9th October at Levy mwanawasa Stadium. The super eagles were triumphant on the afternoon beating the Copper bullets with goals from Alex Iwoubi and Kelechi Iheanacho.

Here are the Five things we learned from the match [Zambia] :

FWAYO TEMBO IS PURE CLASS

Zambia might have lost the match but Fwayo tembo did not lose anything. The Former FC Basel winger was a menace to the Eagles Defense. He made great use of the ball everytime he had it. He made inch perfect crosses and his runs were superb. He was this Writers Man of the Match on the day.

SUNZU/CHAMA COMBO A DISASTER

The defensive Pairing of Stophila Sunzu and Adrian Chama should never be used at any point atleast until they learn to work together. Adrian seemed nervous and Sunzu needed to help him settle which he didn’t and that caused a lot of confusion in the Chipolopolo’s defense.

KALABA SHOULD STOP BEING SELFISH

Zambia’s Best player in 2012 and the team’s Current Captain Rainford Kalaba has a tendency of being selfish and going for personal glory. Yesterday was no exception as he had chances to unselfishly play a friend on but on all the occasions he took the solo route. On a good day he is an Asset and Chipolopolo needs his services but he has to change or he will keep costing his team.

MBESUMA IS STILL LETHAL

Their has been some growing concern from the fans on whether Collins “King David” Mbesuma is still the same player he was years back. Well not the same player but he is still as lethal as ever and he showed it with a well executed goal against Nigeria. He had a good game and could have had more goals if the Midfield was a bit more creative.

ZSL IS A TOP LEAGUE IN AFRICA

Zambia’s Starting Line up had 3 players that play their trend in the local league. The players are Fackson Kapumbu, Adrian Chama and Fwayo Tembo. Apart from Adrians nervous start the other two players had a great game. Fwayo was even the best player on the pitch not just among Zambian players. Kondwani Mtonga came on for Adrian and he stabilized the defense and played very well. Jackson “Zola” Mwanza came on for Fwayo Tembo [not my ideal substitution], but he had a great game. Making good runs , putting the defense on its toes and rashing on all the crosses coming into the box. He had a great header saved by Ikeme who was superb on the day. In total five players from the local league were involved in the game and they had a great game with the exception of Adrian Chama. Fwayo was even responsible for Mbesuma’s goal.
