Wizards reinstated in the league as Malawi top tier kick off with upsets

The long awaited Malawian top tier began over the weekend  despite  uncertainty over which of the teams to make complete the league after the withdrawal of Chilumba Barracks  at the eleventh hour.

The battle for a single team to be returned into the elite Malawi TNM Super League  is finally over following the determination by the Super League of Malawi

(Sulom) in identifying Wizard F.C as the right candidates to bounce back into the
league.

This was made just before the opening matches on Saturday between Big bullets against Moyale Barracks

In matches played on Saturday, Muhammad Sulumba missed a penalty as Nyasa Big Bullets started the league on a sour note when they were held to a frustrating goalless draw  by visiting Moyale Barracks.

Sulumba who signed from Blantyre United  began his Bullets debut on a wrong footing with a flurry of missed chances coupled with the penalty miss,

 

Both coaches were happy with the draw  but it was the big Bullets fans who vented their anger and frustrations at the former  on loan Wanderers player.

 

In other matches played on Saturday, MAFCO FC beat Mzuni FC by a solitary goal at the Chitowe grounds while  Kamuzu Barracks forced Civo Service to a goalless draw at the Civo Stadium.

 

On Sunday today at the Silver stadium in the capital Lilongwe the country soccer giants Mighty Be forward wanderers took on Silver Strikers with the Nomads edging the hosts 2-1.

In other matches played on Sunday, Red lions were held to a 1-1 draw by visiting Epac as Azam Tigers and Max Bullets shared the spoils drawing 2-2.

Newly promoted Ndangwa lost to Blue Eagles by a solitary goal.
