Gor Mahia – Sony Sugar match moved from Afraha to Nyayo Stadium

Gor Mahia – Sony Sugar match moved from Afraha to Nyayo Stadium

The Gor Mahia-Sony Sugar Kenyan Premier League clash, which had earlier been scheduled for Afraha Stadium in Nakuru on Saturday, has been moved back to the Nyayo National Stadium.

The match has not changed dates but the time has been pushed back to 4:15pm, a schedule that will allow two matches to be played at the venue as a double header that will see Kawangware side Nairobi City Stars host Sofapaka in an earlier match.

The league managers, KPL, have confirmed that this move was made after the Kenya National under-20 team was disqualified from the continental stage and will therefore not host Sudan at the venue that they had already booked.

“This is after Nyayo National Stadium, which is Gor Mahia’s registered home ground for this season, became available following the disqualification of Kenya U20 from the 2017 Afcon U20 qualifiers. Kenya U20 had booked to use the venue to host their qualifier match against Sudan U20 before they were disqualified,” read the confirmation communique from KPL.

The Gor Mahia-Sony Sugar match will kick off at 4:15pm and this will affect the kick-off time of the Nairobi City Stars-Sofapaka match, which has been scheduled to be played at the same venue on the same day.
