Gor Mahia start league campaign away at Tusker as BPL fixtures are released

byAgnes Amondi

League champions Gor Mahia open their BetKing Premier League (BPL) 2020/21 campaign against Tusker FC on November 21.

They will then host Ulinzi Stars eight days later before they hit the road again to play Mathare United. K’Ogalo wrap up their first five matches at home to former KPL champions Sofapaka followed by a clash against newly promoted side Bidco United.

The league managers released the fixtures on Wednesday, a day after they set the date for league kick off. However, the schedule is subject to change as the government through the Ministries of Health and Sports is yet to lift its restrictions for the resumption of contact sports in the country.

Meanwhile, AFC Leopards head coach Anthony Kimani will hope to end the club’s 22 year wait for a league title, when they host Western Stima on the opening day of the season.

Speaking to AFC Leopards website, the ex Kenyan international knows the task at hand and is already prepared for the challenge.

“The goal is to ensure that the team picks as many points as possible and this has to start with the opening fixture.”

“We respect all opponents but our aim is to win matches and challenge for the title.”

Leopards will travel to newcomers Bidco on November 28 followed by a home duel against Zoo. Nzoia Sugar will be the visitors on December 9 before Kimani leads his charges against the winner of the promotional playoffs between Kisumu All Stars and Vihiga United.
