Kenya’s  Harambee Starlets defeated the Pharaohs of Egypt 1-0 in an international friendly match at Moi International Sports Centre,Kasarani on Friday.

A first half wonderful strike from Vivian Corazone was all the Stalets, handled by David Ouma,needed to get past the Pharaohs who had boasted of their intention to win the encounter.

The Stalets began the game on a bright note as they got a corner after Pharaoh’s goalkeeper deflected Esse Akida effort. The resultant kick, taken by Caroline Anyango was blown away.

For the first ten minutes of the game, Starlets dominated but despite their string of passes, they could not break down the defence line of the strong Egptians.

Kenya’s first real chance came in the 13th minute when Mary Kinuthia broke free from the right but Egypt goalkeeper was well positioned to foil the imminent danger.

David Ouma’s side continued to dominate with Kinuthia shooting from long range with his effort cleared for a corner kick.

Vivian Corazone put Starlets in the lead with his 35th minute after smashing a connect to a neat pass from Mary Kinuthia who had overlapped from the Pharaos’ defence.

In the 37th minute,Egyptians got a chance to equalize as goalkeeper Samatha Akinyi misjudged a corner by Mahila Aly while Rana Amr could not convert from close range.

On resumption of the second half, Egypt tried to grab an equaliser but poor finishing was their major undoing. Aliaa Shourky raced into Stalets backline then shot tamely at goal with Alia seeing her attempt few minutes later going off target.

Mary Kinuthia missed many clear cut chances to double his side’s lead as she was a marked man.Kinuthia best chance of the night came in the 70th minute but her free-kick missing goal mouth by inches.

Towards the end of the game, Egptians created nemerous chances but failed to score an equalizer as impressive Starlets defence kept them at bay.
