South Africa’s PSL side Highlands Park have confirmed the signing of Ethiopian striker Fikru Tefera Lemessa, soka25east.com understands.

According to the sources,Lemessa signed a short contract as the team tries to avoid relegation and is expected to bring widen weight upfront .

“He has signed a six-month contract.He could make his debut this weekend,”said the source.

The 31-year-old is so well-travelled that he has played for Pirates, SuperSport United (two stints), FK Mlada Boleslav in Czech Republic, Thanh Hoa in Vietnam, Free State Stars, University of Pretoria, Milano United, Atletico de Kolkata in India, Bidvest Wits, Chennaiyin FC in India and Sheikh Russell.

A holder of South Africa passport also played for Saint George while he was a teenager having shaped his career from Adama Kenema.

He also had a stint with Czech republic side FK Malda Bolessav and also Thanh Hoa in Vietnam league. He was also a hot property to Indian league gaints Atletico de Kolkata and Chennaiyin Fc.

Fikru was a free agent since October 2016 as he finished his short term contract with Sheikh Russell in Bangladesh Premier League.

Before signing to Highlands Park,Fikru’s name was linked to Indian clubs especially India’s second league side Mohammedan FC.

Fikru did not get a call up for the Ethiopia national team since 2012 CECAFA tournament as he is known by criticizing Ethiopian National team coaches and he was remembered by his dispute with the legendary Ethiopian National team Coach sewent Bishaw.
