Kaizer Chiefs face Maritzburg in League Encounter

Kaizer Chiefs are bracing for a dramatic encounter as they get ready to welcome Maritzburg United in a League encounter at the FNB Stadium on Saturday 15 February, 2020.

Kaizer Chiefs are leading the pack in the Absa Premiership with 45 points. Amakhosi are nine points clear of bitter rivals Orlando Pirates with a game in hand.

Chiefs are undefeated in their last seven home league games against Maritzburg winning the last six with one draw.

Chiefs have kept five clean-sheets in their last six home league games against Maritzburg, and have kept three clean-sheets in their last three home league games against them.

Chiefs last home league loss against Maritzburg United was a 1-0 defeat on the 17th April 2012 almost eight years ago.

Maritzburg United showed gritt and determination in their last league match on Wednesday dispatching Bidvest Wits with the only goal of the game coming through in the 44th minute courtesy of Thabiso Kutumela.

The Team of Choice lie in sixth position on the log.

United coach Eric Tinkler was full of praise for his team’s effort and will hope for the same in the next game against Chiefs.

“I am proud of the boys – not an easy place to come,” Tinkler told the Clubs Official Website.

“I think it’s the first time in the last five outings here (that Maritzburg beat Wits in Johannesburg). Very happy with the three points. We wanted to hit that 30-point mark as soon as possible. Now we want to try and climb that table as high as we can.”
