Leopards Fall to Fluid Ushuru

Leopards Fall to Fluid Ushuru

By Bonface Osano,

Ingwe went down fighting 1-0 to a free passing Ushuru who displayed dominance in a KPL match played at the Nyayo stadium on Saturday; super sub Allen Kateregga for the second time in two matches came off the bench to deliver a decisive goal. Substitute Mohammed Hassan who earlier came on for colorless Moses Arita in the 50th minute picked Kateregga with an incisive pass on the left; the natural left footer on his first touch unleashed a low hard shot that left Ingwe keeper Joel Bataro static to put the taxmen forward in the 57th minute, silencing the partisan Leopards fans.

Leopards were forced to make two substitutions in the first half due to injuries, first, Ezekiel Seda came on for Benard Mangoli in the 27th minute before second goal keeper Joel Bataro came on for Wycliffe Kasaya who landed awkwardly on his shoulder trying to save Charles Okwemba’s header in the 38th minute and he (Kasaya) could not continue with the game.

“We made individual mistakes but the point is we didn’t score today we get some chances we didn’t score, again those two forced substitutions killed us, we are also not fit” Ingwe coach Zdravko Logarusic was quoted by Soka25east.com after the match.

Ushuru FC Coach on the other hand said his fielding and tactical substitution did the job for him; “I feel good because I deserved to win, I knew I should play a game that they don’t understand, what I wanted was three points and I think I have come out with three points. Most of the players had not played any match and so they were not fatigued.”

The win pushes the taxmen to position 8 in the KPL log with 12 points from 8 matches, while Ingwe maintains 5th spot with same number of points, similar number of games but one more than 6th placed Sofapaka who plays tomorrow.
